The average price of unleaded gasoline in the U.S. has been below $3 a gallon for most of the month.

The cost of gas is at its lowest level since 2021, according to AAA.

Fuel prices have dropped about 7% from a month ago and have fallen roughly 43% from mid-2022 highs near $5 a gallon.

Regional differences in gas prices are significant, with Hawaii and California recording average prices above $4 per gallon, while Oklahoma’s prices are just below $2.30 per gallon.
