Parents can now more effectively monitor their children’s AI usage.
ChatGPT Officially Introduces New Parental Controls

OpenAI is introducing new safety measures after being sued by the parents of a 16-year-old who alleged ChatGPT acted as his “suicide coach.”
On Monday, the company enabled parents to link their accounts to those of minors aged 13 to 17 years old.
The new chatbot accounts can limit the answers given to certain questions, set time limits and curfews, and alert parents if the AI thinks the youth is in trouble.
In its announcement, OpenAI said, “Guardrails help, but they’re not foolproof and can be bypassed if someone is intentionally trying to get around them. We will continue to thoughtfully iterate and improve over time. We recommend parents talk with their teens about healthy AI use and what that looks like for their family.”
