What To Know About The Delay in SNAP Benefits

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, November 2025 SNAP benefits were suspended, and payments were not made on November 1st. 

SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. It is the formal name for food stamps.

Lawsuits from several states and non-profit groups led federal courts to require the Administration to use contingency funds to provide at least some November SNAP benefits. 

States are now working to issue these benefits, but the process and timing vary in each state. 

The nearly 42 million SNAP recipients can still use any funds already on their EBT cards from previous months.

There is no confirmed date for when future benefits will be fully restored, as this depends on Congress funding the government.
