Man Injured by Hot Tea From Starbucks Awarded $50M in Damages   

Starbucks has been ordered to pay $50 million in damages to Postmates delivery driver Michael Garcia after a cup of hot tea spilled in his lap.

He suffered third-degree burns to his genitals, groin and inner thighs after the Starbucks barista didn’t tuck the cup of hot tea into the takeout tray at the L.A. drive-thru, according to Garcia’s legal team.

Video shows Garcia struggling as he drives away with the tray of three drinks.

Starbucks stated after the ruling, “We disagree with the jury’s decision that we were at fault for this incident and believe the damages awarded to be excessive.”
