Beginning July 1st, cruise ship passengers arriving at any Mexican port must pay a $5 fee.

This is a compromise between the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association and the Mexican government to offset some tariff costs on to visitors.

Mexico originally wanted to implement a $42 tariff, but it was negotiated down.

The fee will rise to $21 over the next three years.
