Even Zoom Is Making Its Staff Return to the Office

The trend of companies bringing “remote workers” back to the office just hit a new level. And I’m not sure if this is ironic . . . or karma? ZOOM, the video conferencing company, is asking its staff to return to the office. Zoom says it’s now enforcing a “structured hybrid approach” (don’t you just love “corporate speak”), where “employees who live near an office need to be on-site two days a week”.  And they added it’s because in-person workers are the “most effective.” Which basically is saying people who work for Zoom are more productive IN PERSON, than they are working OVER ZOOM. Is it just me, or does that sound a little counterproductive?
