Here’s A New Nightmare For Your Memory Files . . .

Remember when Gilligan’s Island had people getting trapped in QUICKSAND all the time? Bat at some point it went away, and you very rarely see stories about quicksand anymore. Let me assure you, after this story, it should be a “reasonable fear” again! A 36 year old Florida man who’d been missing for several days, was discovered several days later . . . trapped in mud up to his shoulders. Police found the guys car close to an industrial plant that makes sand, so employees started looking for him and spotted him in a pit. The guy was alert and could talk, but had gone several days without food or water by then. It was also hard to reach him because he was surrounded by “unstable” ground. Specialized crews worked with local fire departments to free him, using ladders, backboards, pallets, poles, and ropes, and the elaborate operation took three hours. The guy was initially hospitalized in critical condition, is expected to make a full recovery.
