Here’s a quick rundown of . . . THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE:
In “Stranded In Space News”: Those astronauts stranded on the Space Station are now back on Earth, but did you know they were paid overtime . . . sort of. They were only scheduled to be in space a week or so, but ended up staying for 286 days, and they DID receive overtime . . . $5 a day. (???) Both astronauts were on salary (making around $150,000 a year), so they don’t get overtime. They just get $5 a day for incidentals while “traveling.” Which came out to be $1,430 each. NASA did note that meals, lodging, and transportation are also covered.
