How Does Something Like This Even Get Started?

This is pretty funny and bizarre . . . for some reason, there’s currently a meme of Jason Derulo (a pop/R&B singer), falling down stairs, at this year’s Met Gala. But here’s the bizarre part . . . it never actually happened! In fact not only did Jason Derulo NOT fall down the stairs at the 2023 Met Gala, but he wasn’t even THERE! And to add to the crazy . . . THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME THIS RUMOR GOT STARTED!

In 2015, a tweet from a now-suspended account claimed Derulo had taken a tumble at the 2015 Met Gala. Derulo himself responded on Instagram, denying the claim and telling everyone that he was actually in rehearsals in LA at the time. So, who really fell down the stairs at the Met Gala? Nobody! The photo is from the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in France, when an unnamed man, tried to crash the event and fell down the stairs during the chaos.
