“Poor Souls Who Were Led Astray by Google Translate”

No matter how far A.I. and other online services have come, there’s nothing like having an ACTUAL HUMAN handle a translation . . . or edit typos and other mix-ups. Buzzfeed posted a story, of “poor souls who were led very astray by Google Translate”. Here are a few of the memorable ones . . .  (click HERE for the complete list).

1) A sign promoting WI-FI accidentally used WIFE. It said, “No WIFE, no problem! We FREE you 1 MONTH WIFE to try. If not satisfied,
Just return it to us within 30 days. No need to pay!” (I don’t think they even bothered to use Google Translate)

2) An outdoor sign in the wilderness has this English translation: “The future is dangerous. Don’t go any further please.”

3) A notice at a bakery said: “Do not touch bread with hands. Please use tongue” (I think they meant TONGS . . . but I’m not judgin’).

4) A sign at a store said: “Video monitoring in progress. We PROSTITUTE shoplifters.”

“We prostitute shoplifters” . . . that really escalated from loss prevention.
