States That Spend the Most On Booze?

Did you planning to do any partying or celebrating over the weekend (or maybe “liquid self-care” in the wake of tax season)? If so, you may be contributing to your state’s “Booze Spend”. A recent report analyzed the states that spend the most on alcohol, and not surprisingly, Utah came in DEAD LAST. On the flipside, Alaskans spend the most on alcohol. Each adult drops an average of $1,250 per year on booze. Which sounds like a lot, but when you break it down, that’s “only” about $104 per month (or $24 per week). Here’s the Top 5 Boozy States: 1. Alaska ($1,250 per person, per year), 2. Wyoming, 3. Colorado, 4. Massachusetts, and 5. Rhode Island. Utah is 50th at $606 per person, per year. West Virginia pays the second-least (possibly because everyone just drinks their own moonshine?), followed by Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Ohio just missed the bottom 5, coming in as the 6th state that spends the least on booze.
