Summer Cooling Tip: Ceiling Fans

Summer tip: If you’ve got ceiling fans, turn them off when you’re not in the room. Moving air around doesn’t actually cool a room down, it just cools YOU down. Your body cools itself off through the evaporation of sweat, and when air moves across your skin, that happens faster. It also helps carry heat away from your body. So unless a person or pet is in there, you’re wasting electricity. Also, make sure to switch your ceiling fans so they spin COUNTER-clockwise in the summer (it pushes the cooler air down). If they’re running clockwise, they can make a room feel even warmer.
