The Best and Worst Days to Drive for Thanksgiving

A record number of Americans are planning to travel for Thanksgiving this year. 73.3 million will drive, 6 million will fly, and 2.5 million will take buses, trains, and other modes of transportation (I’m traveling by canoe). The worst days and times to “head out on the highway?” Well it depends on where you’re headed, but in general . . .

THE WORST TIMES TO BE ON THE ROAD ARE . . . Next Tuesday (11/25) from noon to 9:00pm, AND next Wednesday (11/26) from 11:00am to 8:00pm.

THE WORST TIMES TO BE HEADING HOME ARE . . . Sunday (11/30) between 11:00am and 8:00pm, AND Monday (12/1) between noon and 8:00pm. On the more positive side,

THE BEST DAY TO DRIVE IS . . . next Thursday. There’s usually not a ton of traffic on Thanksgiving itself.
