Things to Look Forward to in October

It’s a new month! Here are a few things to look forward to in October . . .

1) In sports: This may be the only month that pretty much ALL major sports franchises are playing game. Of course FOOTBALL is at “full strength”. MLB is beginning their playoffs, with Game 1 of the World Series set for the 24th. The NHL season gets started next Tuesday. And the new NBA season tips off October 21st.

2) In movies: The Rock’s new MMA flick “The Smashing Machine” opens this Friday. Daniel Day-Lewis returns to the screen for the first time in seven years in “Anemone” the same day. Guillermo del Toro’s new “Frankenstein” movie opens in limited release on the 17th before hitting Netflix next month. And Jeremy Allen White from “The Bear”, and the American version of “Shameless”, stars in

“Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” on the 24th.

3) On TV: “SNL” returns for its 51st season this Saturday. “Grey’s Anatomy” is back on the 9th. Tim Robinson’s new show “The Chair Company” hits HBO Max the same day. “NCIS” returns the 14th. And season four of “The Witcher” hits Netflix October 30th.

4) And finally, the holidays: The big ones are Yom Kippur, which starts tonight. Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day on the 13th. And Halloween on the 31st. But there ARE some “lesser-known” holidays this month including, International Beer and Pizza Day on the 9th. National No Bra Day on the 13th. And National Cat Day on the 29th.
