When Two Letters Can Make A Difference!
Every now and then we’re reminded, how just a few letters can make a big difference between wildly different meanings. The “Cumbria Nature Festival” will be held next month in the U.K. and the website says it’s for “like-minded people to explore, share, and celebrate incredible wildlife and environmental biodiversity.” For the record, a “naturalist” is a person who studies, observes, and documents the natural world. A “naturist” is like a NUDIST. And some people got it terribly wrong, thinking it was “nature calling” for ANOTHER kind of “like-minded people”, forcing organizers to post THIS on Facebook, “After a recent inquiry we need to clarify, Cumbria Nature Festival is primarily aimed at NATURALISTS, not NATURISTS. “While we aim to be as inclusive as possible, And certainly do not judge anyone, please do dress appropriately. People have been having fun in the comments. One person said “What if we fall into both camps?” And another said, “I should cancel my waxing appointment then.”
