You’re Probably Packing Your Cooler Wrong
If your cooler is your summer sidekick, it might be time to take your relationship to the next level. According to Popular Science, people are making a huge mistake when they grab their cooler straight from a hot garage and start filling it with ice. Here are a few pro-tips . . .
1) A few hours before packing your cooler, “pre-chill it” with a bag of ice or better yet, frozen water bottles.
2) Those frozen water bottles can pull double duty by helping keep everything cold without all that melted ice water.
3) Keep food and drinks in separate coolers, since the drink cooler gets opened more often.
4) Pack the cooler tightly to eliminate warm air gaps.
5) And put a towel under it if it’s going to sit directly on a warm surface.
Of course keep in mind, these “cooler tips” won’t help much, if Uncle Steve keeps opening it every three minutes asking, “Anybody else want a beer?”
