FHCPL SummerREAD Programming Continues
(From The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library)
The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is celebrating SummerREAD with the following programs from June 28 – July 4:
Monday at 2 p.m. at Litzenberg Memorial Woods, we’ll go for a “spin” back in time. Join staff from the Hancock Park District to learn about how wool is turned into yarn. Families will get hands-on practice carding and spinning wool with tools that the pioneers used and will have yarn to take home for their own crafting projects. Register at findlaylibrary.org/events to take part in this educational and fun program.
Join us Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room for art, science, and engineering projects in our makerspace for kids! Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Join us every Tuesday at 2 p.m. this summer and check the website calendar for fun themes each week at findlaylibrary.org/events. This week’s theme is Ozobots! Ozobots are small, programmable robots kids can use to learn about coding and robotics.
Let’s dig into our life stories! On Tuesday, June 30 at 4 p.m. in the Younger Room, we’ll get a journaling lesson from the Family Resource Center. Learn
tips and tricks for your journaling journey followed by an opportunity to decorate your new journal. All supplies will be provided. This program is for teens in grades 6 – 12. Space is limited and registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events.
Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. in the Children’s Programming Room in the Children’s Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends.

Let’s celebrate summer with some fun Japanese games, crafts, and snacks on Wednesday, July 1 at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. Learn about the Japanese star festival, Tanabata, and create a tanzaku, a wish written on a colorful strip of paper and hung from a tree. All ages welcome. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Please register all family members who plan to attend at findlaylibrary.org/events.
The Writer’s Support Group is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Coffee Amici, 328 South Main Street. Writers can join us and bring their work-in-progress or start fresh with one of our prompts, and spend time with other writers.
Settle in for a book discussion at 50 North on Thursday at 10 a.m. This month, we’re exploring This Tender Land by William Kent Kruger. Copies
of the book are available at the Information Services Department. Ebook and audiobook copies are available on Libby so that you can read or listen on your computer, phone or tablet. If you’re new to Libby, we’ll be happy to introduce you to this convenient app.
Family Night: Plant Care & Self Care is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. What can caring for a plant teach us about caring for ourselves? Staff from the Family Resource Center will explore how plant care is like self-care. Families will then decorate a flowerpot and receive a small plant to take home. Space is limited and registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
