Judge Blocks Ohio From Using Unclaimed Funds As Lawsuit Plays Out
(ONN) – A judge has blocked Ohio from taking billions of dollars in unclaimed funds for the Cleveland Browns’ new stadium as a lawsuit plays out.
A preliminary injunction has been issued against House Bill 96.
The law would have transferred almost $2 billion from the unclaimed funds trust to fund the Cleveland Browns stadium and other venues.
Plaintiffs say the decision protects property rights of Ohioans and requires notice before the state can take funds.
The case is ongoing.
