Long Delays For Ohioans Filing For Their Unclaimed Funds
(ONN) – Ohio is seeing a record number of requests for unclaimed funds.
The Ohio Department of Commerce says nearly 885-thousand claims were filed over the past year – totaling almost 750 million dollars.
So far, only a fraction of those claims have been paid.
The state says about 184 thousand of them were approved, paying out roughly 182 million dollars.
The surge in unclaimed funds requests began after Governor DeWine approved using 600 million dollars in unclaimed funds to help finance a new stadium for the Browns.
