Severe Weather Season Off To Busy Start In Ohio

(From WTOL-11 Meteorologist Ryan Wichman)

Ohio’s tornado season is off to a busy start!

Saturday’s EF-1 tornado in Defiance brings the statewide total to 10 tornadoes so far in 2026. With at least five separate storm systems already producing tornadoes, we’re closing in on half of a typical year’s total — and it’s only early April.

So far, none of Ohio’s tornadoes this year have been stronger than EF-1, and half have been rated EF-0.

Ohio set a state record with 74 tornadoes in 2024. We’ve got a long way to go with severe weather season.
