Sheriff’s Office Responds To Attempted Suicide

On Thursday April 30th, 2026, at about 10:18AM, deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Cunningham Drive residence in Marion Township near Findlay, Ohio regarding a 49-year-old male who had attempted suicide and was still in possession of a knife.

Upon deputies’ arrival, it was learned the male was suffering from a self-inflicted knife wound to the wrist area. Deputies were able to establish a line of communication with the male who refused to drop the knife.

After approximately 45 minutes of communicating, the male was taken into custody with no force being used. The male was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital for medical and mental health evaluations.

Assisting at the scene were the Findlay Police Department, Hanco EMS and Washington Township Fire Department.

The sheriff’s office would urge people to call 911 if they are suffering from suicidal ideations or call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, local NAMI or the Family Resource Center.
