Google is cutting costs. 

The tech company has laid off hundreds of employees from its hardware, voice assistance, and engineering teams.

The job displacements were forecast by Google last year when a six-percent reduction of staff was announced. 

Earlier this week, Amazon laid off hundreds of employees in its Prime Video, Studios, and Twitch divisions.
