Daylight Saving Time 2023: When Does the Time Change?

Twice a year, most Americans change their clocks forward or back an hour as part of daylight saving time.

This year, we turn back the clocks on Saturday night.

There have been talks to make daylight saving time a permanent thing, but there’s no immediate plan in place. Daylight Saving Time Senate GIF by GIPHY News

The idea to end the clock changing was put before Congress in the last couple of years when the U.S. Senate unanimously approved the Sunshine Protection Act in 2022, a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent.

Although the Sunshine Protection Act was passed unanimously by the Senate in 2022, it did not pass in the U.S. House of Representatives and was not signed into law by President Joe Biden. A 2023 version of the act has remained idle in Congress as well.

This weekend, before you go to bed Saturday night, set your clocks back one hour. Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 5, at 2:00 A.M, so enjoy that extra hour of sleep!
