Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th attacks. A day Americans will never forget. We shockingly watched the Twin Towers collapse, the Pentagon burn and a plane meant for the U.S. Capitol slam into a Pennsylvania field. More than 3,000 people died.

2,606 people lost their lives when terrorists flew planes into New York City’s Trade Towers; 125 lives when terrorists flew into the Pentagon and all 64 perished on United Airlines Flight 93 when passengers diverted their hijacked plane, which crashed into a Pennsylvania field.

412 emergency workers, including 343 New York City firefighters and paramedics, lost their lives that day. Remembering Never Forget GIF by Wireless Vision

This September 11th, nearly 30 million people will volunteer or participate in community service to salute the heroes of 9/11 and recapture the spirit of unity and compassion that inspired our nation following the attacks.

Also observed on 9/11, Emergency Responders Day remembers those who selflessly faced those terrifying moments that morning but never came home. Write a thank-you note, leave a social media message or help your kids create thank-you cards for our area’s very own first responders as a way to honor their dedication to our safety.REMAXCentreRealtors GIF

The History Channel has spliced together amateur footage and news clips (in real-time) to experience the entire day as it unfolded minute-by-minute in the documentary 102 Minutes That Changed America.
