A Reddit thread was started by the cousin of a 20-year-old mother who had the child in January.
The mother kept the name hidden until all the paperwork was done.
She told the family she wanted to pay tribute to her grandparents Harvey and Charlotte, and named the child Harlotte.
According to the cousin, the young mother had never heard of the term ‘harlot’, which is an old-school name for a sex worker.
An aunt said, “My mom burst out, “YOU NAMED THE BABY WHORE???”
A cousin screamed, “We are a loud family, but holy hell. That poor child. Harlotte. HARLOTTE. It’s so horrific I can’t even call the baby it.”
The cousin who posted the story said the baby “came out very pink and has a puggy nose, so I’m calling her Piglet for now.”
