You ever look up a recipe online and accidentally enroll in somebody’s life story?
I just wanted to know how long to bake chicken.
That’s it. One question.
Instead, I’m reading about a summer family reunion in 1998, a beloved aunt named Carol, the emotional journey of paprika, and how someone learned to cook during a rainstorm.
I’m scrolling.
And scrolling.
And scrolling.
At one point, I’m pretty sure I passed three state lines.
Finally, after enough scrolling to qualify as exercise, I find the recipe.
Three ingredients.
Bake 25 minutes.
That’s it.
That’s all I needed from the beginning.
By the time I found the recipe, I wasn’t hungry anymore.
I earned college credit.
