FDA Approves First Blood Test To Diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease
The Food and Drug Administra
tion has approved the first blood test that can help identify Alzheimer’s Disease.
The test, called Lumipulse G, will help identify proteins that are believed to cause the disease.
The FDA has cleared the test for people 55 and older who are experiencing signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
One researcher said, “This is a much more simple screening test, with reasonable accuracy, to tell the physician that a person with cognitive decline has symptoms that are actually due to Alzheimer’s disease.”
