A new study shows the shocking cost of childcare.

Some Parents Are Paying More For Childcare Than Rent

A new study shows how childcare can sometimes cost more than rent.

The Lending Tree study found that the average monthly cost of full-time infant care at a center is $1,282, which is about 25% less than the average monthly cost of renting a two-bedroom space.

Families with two or more young children face significantly higher child care costs.

Springfield, Massachusetts, has the highest child care-to-rent cost gap in the country, with monthly infant care costing $1,996 compared to the average rent of $1,734 for a two-bedroom apartment.

Milwaukee and Wichita, Kansas, are two other major cities where the average cost of child care exceeds the average rent.
