Energizer Creates Battery To Prevent Child Deaths After Swallowing  

Energizer has launched a new coin-shaped lithium battery, the Ultimate Child Shield, made from a proprietary titanium alloy to prevent injuries and deaths from accidental ingestion.  

The new battery is designed to reduce the risk of burning the digestive tract if swallowed, a common injury associated with coin or button batteries.

The battery is available in sizes 2032, 2025, and 2016, and replaces Energizer’s previous 3-in-1 Child Shield batteries.

While the new battery is a step in the right direction, doctors emphasize the importance of keeping batteries out of children’s reach and treating battery ingestion as an emergency.
