Mattel has released the first Barbie doll to represent someone with Type 1 diabetes. 

The doll is a part of Barbie’s Fashionistas collection. 

She features a blood glucose monitor on her arm,  a readout display, and an insulin pump attached to her belt. 

A spokesperson for Mattel said, “Introducing a Barbie doll with type 1 diabetes marks an important step in our commitment to inclusivity and representation.”
