The iPhone app “Are You Dead?” has gained viral popularity and currently ranks in the top 10 most-downloaded paid apps in the U.S.

The app is designed to calm the fears of individuals who live alone and worry about dying without anyone noticing.

According to opinion studies, about 43% of people express concern about the prospect of dying alone, highlighting a widespread fear.

Users of the app must select an emergency contact and check in every two days by tapping a button; failure to do so prompts an automatic notification to the contact, indicating that the user may need assistance.

The app initially launched last May and has recently seen a surge in usage.

The creators of the app emphasized that it is not exclusively for older people, but also for anyone leading a solitary lifestyle, including students and office workers.
