You Don’t Have to Feel Ready

The Problem With Waiting for the Perfect Time

Most of us spend a surprising amount of life waiting.

Waiting until things calm down.
Waiting until we’re less busy.
Waiting until we feel more confident.
Waiting until Monday.
Waiting until next month.
Waiting until the timing is “right.”

The problem?

Life rarely sends an invitation announcing that the perfect moment has arrived.

There will always be dishes in the sink.
There will always be bills to pay.
There will always be something that needs attention.

If we’re not careful, we can spend years standing at the starting line waiting for conditions that never come.

The truth is that most meaningful things begin before we’re fully ready.

The person who starts walking for exercise doesn’t suddenly wake up motivated every day.

The person who changes careers doesn’t have every answer figured out.

The person who reaches a goal usually started while they were still uncertain.

Progress doesn’t require perfect timing.

It requires movement.

Sometimes that movement is small.

A five-minute walk.

One phone call.

One application.

One difficult conversation.

One step.

The funny thing is that confidence usually shows up after we begin, not before.

So if there’s something you’ve been putting off because you’re waiting for the perfect time, consider this:

Maybe the perfect time isn’t coming.

Maybe the opportunity is simply today.

Not because today is ideal.

But because today is available.

And sometimes that’s enough.
