“Half-Daylight Saving Time”???

Daylight Saving Time starts Sunday when we spring forward an hour. So enjoy your internal clock being scrambled again. There’s been a lot of debate about doing away with the clock-shifting thing completely (British Columbia announced this week they’re shifting to permanent Daylight Saving Time this year). Now a NEW idea is in the mix . . . A Florida congressman has introduced a bill that says we should all do HALF-Daylight Saving Time, and permanently shift the clocks up 30 minutes. It’s called the “Daylight Act of 2026” and the idea is you’d split the difference. We’d keep some of the late-day light people like, but winter mornings wouldn’t be quite so dark. The obvious downside is we’d be 30 minutes off from the WHOLE WORLD, which I think would probably prevent the bill from being passed. But let’s be honest, switching to permanent Standard or Daylight Time is just a much simpler solution.
