Happy National Donut Day!
Today is National Donut Day (always the first Friday in June). The Salvation Army started National Donut Day in 1938 to honor the Donut Lassies, who handed out donuts to soldiers in World War One. Here’s a few “Donut Fun Facts” to celebrate National Donut Day . . .
1) Only 1% of Americans say they “hate” donuts.
2) Our favorite types are glazed, Boston cream, chocolate frosted, jelly, and chocolate cake.
And 3) The World Donut Eating record was set last year when James Webb downed 70 glazed donuts in eight minutes! To put that in perspective, that’s 4 donuts shy of SIX DOZEN!
