The Best Smells: Bread, Rain, and Grandma’s House

Are you a “sensory person”? Specifically, how’s your sense of SMELL? I think smell may be the most overlooked senses. The website “Ranker” has ranked the “Best Smells In The World.” More than 13,000 people have weighed in so far, and here’s the Top 5 (keep in mind the poll is ongoing, so rankings may shift over time) . . .

#5. Sea breeze.

#4. Cookies fresh from the oven.

#3. Cold mountain air.

#2. After it rains.

#1. Freshly baked bread.

A few other notable scents, and where they rank: Chocolate chip cookies were (#7), A real Christmas tree (#10), Wood came in at (#12 . . . “Burning wood” was two spots behind), and Apple pie was #16.

A few what I would call “specific smells” were Freshly ground coffee (#21), Bacon frying (#41), Gasoline (#52), and Grandma’s house (#46 . . . Grandma herself wasn’t included).`
