Law Enforcement Agencies Participate In Prescription Drug Take Back Day

(From the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office)

On April 25, 2026, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Wyandot County METRICH Enforcement Unit, the Carey Police Department, and the Upper Sandusky Police Department, participated in the annual DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event. This free and anonymous event focuses on collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs from our community.

In addition to drop boxes available in the lobbies of the Sheriff’s Office and police departments, two collection sites were made available at Harry’s Pharmacy in Carey and Wal-Mart in Upper Sandusky. A total of 81.6 pounds of unused prescription medications were collected.

Sheriff Frey thanks the community for their participation in this event. To find more information about the safe disposal of unused or expired prescription medications, or to find a medication drop box near you, please visit www.DEATakeBack.com.
