School Holding Emergency Readiness Training Exercise

On Friday, March 20, 2026, Cory-Rawson Local Schools will conduct a comprehensive, full-day safety training intensive for all district staff. To ensure a focused and secure environment for this high-level exercise, there will be no school for students.

A Unified Approach to Campus Safety

The “Staff Safety Training Day” is a collaborative effort designed to test emergency protocols and strengthen the coordination between school personnel and local first responders. This hands-on drill is being coordinated by:

. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office

. Southwestern Hancock Joint Fire District

. Cory-Rawson Local School District

 

What to Expect

While the campus will be closed to the public and students, the community may notice a heavy presence of emergency vehicles, including law enforcement cruisers, fire engines, and ambulances, throughout the day.

 

Training Highlights

. Scenario-Based Drills: Staff will participate in simulated emergencies to practice evacuation, lockdown, and medical response procedures.

. Inter-Agency Communication: Local fire and law enforcement will test radio frequencies and command structures within the school building.

. Medical Readiness: Local ambulance services will conduct triage training alongside school staff.

 

*This is only a training exercise. There is no threat to the school or the public. Residents may see emergency lights and hear limited siren activity during the morning and afternoon hours and should not be alarmed.
