Tango, Echo, Meow?

Pilots Make Cat and Dog Noises On Air Traffic Radio

Federal aviation officials are investigating an incident at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport where pilots were heard making animal noises over an air traffic control frequency.

The audio captured pilots making “meow” sounds on the radio, prompting a response to “be professional pilots,” followed by more noise, including barking.

The FAA reviews potential violations of its rules, which prohibit non-essential conversations below 10,000 feet altitude and require discussions related to the safe operation of the aircraft.

The FAA will verify the audio from a third party and investigate if any regulations were violated, with the identities of the pilots involved not yet confirmed as the review continues.
